Alan Berkson

Funny as it may sound, my guest on Monday is…ME!

My good friend Alan Berkson has agreed to guest host  ACT LOCAL on Monday to interview me. While that might sound self indulgent to you — which it is — there is a method to my madness.

Monday happens to be my 50th birthday! Yeah me. So I’m turning the tables.

Alan and I will be looking at planning your Marketing Calendar for 2014. What steps should you take, especially if you’ve NEVER thought to build a true calendar before. I’ll hold your hand and walk you through it.

049: Video Marketing with Author Alfred Poor

Video Marketing

Alfred Poor

“Power Marketing” …  online videos used as a powerful and cost-effective strategy for small businesses. Most Small business owners don’t have the time or money to focus on marketing. In most cases, they buy some ads and put up a sign and hope for the best. In fact, the traditional ways don’t work anymore to help companies get found by prospective customers and clients (except for a few niches such as bail bondsmen and insurance brokers). Adding video to your website gives  a competitive advantage, but the big surprise is that it can take very little time and money, and you don’t have to own a computer or even touch a camera. A video not only makes it more likely that your prospects will find you, but it also makes them more likely to buy from you as well.

Alfred Poor, PhD, is president of The Center for Small Business, which is dedicated to helping small businesses grow and prosper by delivering practical solutions designed to make the most of a company’s scarce resources: time and money. He is a speaker and writer with an international reputation, and is the author of more than a dozen books including “Power Marketing for Small Business: How you can boost sales with low-cost video.” To learn more about Alfred and his work, visit: www.alfredpoor.com

046: Building a Brand Online with Goddess Ande Lyons

Building a Brand Online

Ande Lyons

This week I will be welcoming my friend Ande Lyons. She has a very interesting brand called Bring Back Desire, and she’s been enacting a plan to use social media to build that brand, VERY successfully.  We’re going to be speaking about how she did it, so you can use her great tactics to put your brand on the map.

Ande Lyons is the founder and CEO of Bring Back Desire – a playful, tasteful website where women from around the world are rediscovering sensual pleasure and intimacy.

Her passion for bringing increased intimacy to others stems from her own 26-year relationship with her darling husband. Through conceiving past the age of 35, too touched out by toddlers, several business start ups, health challenges, financial turmoil, 5 moves in 9 years, teens and menopause – Ande was committed to keeping the spark alive in her marriage. She spent years culling through stories, products, toys and relationship reference materials to find the best of the best in each of these categories. In the tradition of Betty White wink-and-a-nod humor and Erma Bombeck kitchen table conversation style, Ande shares her resources through Bring Back Desire.

Building a Brand Online

Ande’s business career spans over twenty-five years in executive level management, private banking, and entrepreneurial ventures. She is an experienced and passionate entrepreneur with several successful companies to her credit. After earning her MBA from Simmons School of Management Ande became a private banker, but she soon realized she needed to pursue her real passion: starting small businesses that can grow into big businesses.
